My cousin and I were talking a couple of weeks ago.

“Carolynne, what is SassyGrub?”

“Well, I help people to save time and money in the kitchen.”

Which got me thinking. If it isn’t clear to her, then it probably isn’t clear to you either, right?

What the heck is SassyGrub anyway?

SassyGrub is a space where recipes are shared that are quick, simple and delish that have been tested by my family and have gotten 4 thumbs up. Then, I tell you how to save time and money making them.

Pretty simple, right? I mean, recipes are a dime a dozen. You can go online, google any recipe you want and the internet will spit out 25 different ways to make it. Me? I really love to investigate recipes and try to figure out how to make them easy and tasty. And, I use my family as guinea pigs.

I am just like you: a busy mom with a job, both kids in sports, and we have busy lives. I don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen any more than you do, which is why I have learned how to cut corners without cutting on taste. I have figured out the art of meal planning that works and I want you to be successful too.

This brings me to today’s blog: Meat is about 60%-75% of your grocery bill. If you can buy meat when it is on sale by the tray, you are saving a poop-load of money.

Show me the money, save me the time

Let’s think about chicken for a minute.

Visualize yourself unpacking 2 trays of chicken breasts. You unwrap them and separate them into sealable baggies-and pour marinade into the baggies. You seal the baggies and squiggle the marinade around for a bit, then toss the baggies in the freezer.

What you have done is created dinner for at least 3 nights with little to no effort. Once you pull those baggies out, all you need to do is thaw, cook and serve. For the below 3 chicken marinade recipes-which, I found on Pinterest-the cooking process is exactly the same: Cook in the oven at 425 degrees for 30 minutes total-15 minutes, flip, 15 minutes. Or BBQ for approximately 5 minutes per side, until juices run clear.
